MERIDIAN HOUSE: A COSMOPOLITAN WEDDING
Meridian House played host to our couple's lovely wedding and their elegant dinner party that followed
Do you long for a cosmopolitan wedding in D.C.? M and C wed in an intimate ceremony in the heart of Washington D.C. at historic Meridian House. Both transplants to the D.C. area (C originally from Canada, and M originally from Pakistan) our couple wanted their small wedding to feel like a sophisticated dinner party hosted at an elegant estate in the city.
When an afternoon summer storm sent their wedding ceremony inside, M and C said their I do's in the Loggia, framed by soaring columns and nestled amongst blooming grounded garden arrangements. As if by magic, the rain cleared after the ceremony and guests mingled outside under the lights and leaves of the linden grove for cocktail hour, strolling through the garden before retreating inside for dinner at graciously set tables.
Pulling in a reference to her Pakistani background, our K Bella bride chose linens with a delicate pattern reminiscent of frescoes and mosaics found in Pakistani architecture - a detail of which was pulled into their invitations and day-of paper goods. White lattice urns and copious candlelit helped set the scene.
After a lovely seated candlelit dinner, guests toasted the couple and cheered for the cake cutting in the estate's library before continuing the festivities with signature drinks and dancing. Later, M changed into her traditional Pakistani dress, resplendent in a gold skirt made for twirling. The couple danced the night away with family and friends before departing for their own private and very romantic cake tasting and champagne toast together on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial. It was the cosmopolitan wedding dreams are made of.
