New York Bridal Fashion Week never disappoints, and the Fall shows this October maintained that standard. From stark white studios, art galleries to wood-paneled club rooms, our favorite designers showcased their newest work with great aplumb. Read on as we share some of our favorite looks straight from the runway, and reveal the newest wedding dress trends for 2024 that turned our heads while in the big apple at this season's New York Bridal Fashion Week.
Think Pink
Channeling their inner Barbie, we saw several designers turn toward the color of the hour with gowns in classic bubblegum pink and super fun after-party looks that any fashion-forward Barbie would consider.
Pearl & Feather Embellishments
Pearl accents were found on everything from gloves to bejeweled bodices for a feminine - and in some cases ornate - form of detailing for gowns. We saw the trend extended to jewelry and hair pieces, as well as on veils. Feather embellishments are also (still) having a moment. Fluttery details elevated wedding looks from designers like Milla Nova and Naeem Khan, among many others. Beyond formal gowns, these airy elements also made eye-catching appearances on everything from wedding suits to cropped bolero jackets.
Big Blooms
Floral appliqués are having a moment and we don't hate it. Our favorite example of this trend was seen at the Milla Nova runway show where gender-neutral tulle capes were adorned with large sheer blooms. Other designers incorporated similar floral moments with rosettes on bodices and blooming flowers gracing dress hems and trains.
Party Frocks
Designers are continuing to embrace wedding dresses that can be quickly altered to create fresh, post-wedding looks. We loved seeing the looks that spoke to traditional elegance while giving the nod to modern brides who long for gowns that can also impress as fun after-party pieces.
From Vogue: Since many couples today are opting for second (and third) looks at their weddings, designers have been finding ways to provide options that allow brides to get more bang for their buck. For those who want a dramatic shape for only a portion of their wedding, an overskirt provides the flexibility to easily remove layers of fabric and reveal a more fitted silhouette. Multiple designers like Enaura embraced this trend by pairing sleek column dresses with gorgeous overskirts with full trains to create an elegant contrast in shape. We also saw the rise of hemlines at Reem Acra and Monique Lhuillier with sexy minis made formal with overskirts for a ceremony to after-party transition.
